Rust Protection FAQ

Q.   Doesn’t my car/truck already have rust protection from the manufacturer?

A.   Short answer….Yes. However. What is already on your vehicle can not even compare to what we offer. Some manufacturer’s idea of rust protection is dipping the frame in wax. That is all. This basic wax can be scraped of with your finger nail. It does not have the durability to stand up to real road conditions.

Q.   What is undercoating?

A.   Undercoating is a thick black abrasion and impact resistant sealant. This is applied to the visible underside of the vehicle. Including brake lines and fuel lines!

Q.   What are “Top and bottom side sealants”?

A.   On our full rust protection package we use special sealants that are fogged inside all of the upper body cavities of your vehicle. This includes the hood, fenders, wheel wells, tail gate/trunk lid, rockers, quarter panels and dog legs. Bottom side areas include inside frame, enclosed box and frame sections.

Q.   I have and older vehicle. Can I still get this done?

A.   Absolutely! Depending on the overall condition of a vehicle, almost any car or truck can benefit from rust protection. On an older vehicle we start with an underbody steam clean. After it is dry we remove any loose and flaking rust. Then we apply a rust inhibiting primer. This puts any left over rust into an inert state that stops it from growing. Afterwards we can apply our undercoating.

Q.   What kind of warranty is offered?

A.   New and nearly new vehicles are covered by a 10 warranty. Please call 973-831-9595 for further details.

Q.   Does this require any maintenance?

A.   Yes. Once a year you need to schedule a “Rust Inspection”. During this inspection we touch up any area that may need it, to ensure that all areas are still properly covered with the sealants.

Q.   Is there anything else I can do to help protect my vehicle from the environment?

A.   One accessory we highly recommend is mud flaps. These prevent road salt and other debris from being kicked up onto the sides of your car/truck. We also offer paint protection! Please see “Diamond Gloss®” for more info.
